Code of ethics

Whitehall Minute exists to give the public fast, unfiltered access to official announcements. These are the standards we hold ourselves to.

Accuracy

We reproduce official announcements in full and unchanged. We do not add opinion, we do not alter meaning, and we do not present an announcement as anything other than what it is: a statement by the body that issued it. If the source corrects or withdraws an announcement, we update or remove our copy.

Attribution

Every page names the issuing body, shows when it was published, links to the original and states the terms under which it is reproduced.

Independence

Whitehall Minute is editorially independent. It is not part of, funded by or affiliated with any government, political party or campaign. Advertisers have no influence over what appears on the site, and advertising is always labelled and kept visually separate from editorial content.

Care and restraint

Official sources present an official point of view, and we say so plainly. We do not publish allegations about individuals from unofficial sources. Pages that deal with deaths, attacks or disasters carry no advertising. The BREAKING label is used only for announcements published within the last 90 minutes.

Openness about how we work

Collection, rights checks and page building are automated and described in our editorial policy. Photographs are used only when their licence allows it; representative images are always labelled as such.

Accountability

We are not a member of a press regulator. We use the Editors' Code of Practice as our reference standard for accuracy, privacy and the handling of complaints. If you believe we have fallen short, please use our complaints procedure.
